EXTRAordinary

I have had the honour to interview and photograph twenty eight of the men and women of the ambulance services who pick up the pieces in peoples’ lives. There is something universal in their stories: human stories of dedication, compassion, commitment, endurance, pain and joy. I also work as a volunteer EMT, and along with my colleagues, have seen the darkness and poverty of life as well as the tenacity, beauty and dignity of life.

This exhibition was shown in Rotorua, Wellington and Alexandra. Each photograph had an accompanying panel of text with paragraphs describing that person’s experiences and thoughts. The exhibition was published as a book run of 10,000 copies – all sold.
